It's important to rest after a tooth extraction to promote fast, comfortable healing. Avoid strenuous activities in order to manage swelling, minimize pain, and prevent excessive bleeding.
Switch to a diet of soft foods and liquids while recovering from tooth extraction. Avoid foods that are crunchy, spicy foods, and any food items that have small seeds or create small crumbs.
It's important to keep your mouth clean for a healthy smile. Follow the post-op oral hygiene tips provided by our dentists to safely remove food particles and plaque without bleeding or pain.
Cigarettes and chewing tobacco increase the risk of infection, which can prevent the formation of blood clots and cause more bleeding. Tooth extraction is a great excuse to kick the habit for good.
The suction in the mouth created by drinking straws can ruin the formation of blood clots, making dry socket more likely. Do not use drinking straws until you are fully healed from tooth extraction.
